Traffic & Pages (/analytics/traffic)

The Traffic & Pages view gives you a comprehensive breakdown of how verified human visitors navigate and engage with your content across your selected date range (Today, 24h, 48h, 7d, or 30d).

1. Top Traffic Metrics & Trend Modals

Four summary cards display totals for the selected timeframe alongside percentage comparisons against the prior period and mini sparklines:

  • Human Visitors: Distinct verified human visitors.
  • Total Pageviews: Total page hits and SPA route navigations.
  • Pages / Session: Average navigation depth per visitor session.
  • Bounce Rate: Percentage of single-page sessions.

Tip: Click any of the four metric cards to open a full-size Area Chart Modal showing the granular hourly or daily time-series trend for that specific metric over your selected range.

2. Activity Density Heatmap

The Activity Density Heatmap visualizes when your audience is most active:

  • Multi-Day Ranges (48h, 7d, 30d): Displays a 7 Days × 24 Hours matrix (Monday through Sunday) shaded by visitor intensity so you can spot peak days and hours at a glance.
  • Single-Day Ranges (Today, 24h): Displays a 24-hour activity strip highlighting peak traffic hours during the day.
  • Hover over any cell to see the exact visitor count for that day and hour slot.

3. Top Pages Table

The Top Pages section ranks your website’s most visited URL paths with proportional volume bars:

  • Page Path: The normalized URL path (e.g., /, /blog/launch, /pricing).
  • Visitors & Pageviews: Distinct visitors and total views for each page, along with percentage share of total site traffic.
  • Avg Time on Page & Bounce Rate: Helps you identify which pages hold reader attention and which pages experience high drop-offs.

4. Session Navigation Flow

The Session Navigation Flow diagram maps how visitors move through your website from their entry page to subsequent pages:

  • Entry Pages → Next Steps: Visualizes the most common page-to-page transitions within sessions.
  • Drop-off vs. Continuation: Quickly see which landing pages successfully funnel users deeper into your product or documentation.

5. Engagement & Scroll Depth

At the bottom of the page, the Engagement & Scroll Depth panel breaks down active reading behavior into two distribution histograms:

  1. Scroll Depth Distribution (Paid plans): Shows how far down the page visitors scroll (grouped into percentage milestones such as 0–25%, 25–50%, 50–75%, 75–100%) along with the overall average scroll percentage.
  2. Engagement Time Distribution: Groups visits by active dwell time (e.g., <5s, 5–15s, 15–30s, 30–60s, 1–3m, 3m+) along with the average active session duration. Because velo.js pauses its stopwatch when a tab is unfocused or hidden, these durations reflect true active attention rather than idle background tabs.
